Any and all shipmates are invited to the very first Goldsborough localized mini reunion. We understand that taking off a week is difficult for many shipmates, especially those with small children and an active career. In hopes of allowing more participation with the Associaition, we plan to begin holding mini reunions between the annual full reunion all around the country, including Hawaii. This Midwest reunion will see if there is a desire for shipmates to participate on a more local level. We will be sending out postcard invitations to shipmates in the border states but everyone is welcome. I know some have stated they plan on arriving on Friday night and that is great. The more the merrier! If you live in the area there is no requirement to stay at the hotel as you can come and go as you wish. Everyone needs to register with either Bill Biller or myself however, so we have an idea of the attendance and what size social room we need. Details below!

This mini will be held at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Columbus Ohio beginning Friday night March 19th and ending on Sunday the 21st. Room rates are $99 per night + tax with free parking, nightly managers reception and a free to order breakfast buffet. The link/address to the hotel is:

Embassy Suites Columbus
2700 Corporate Exchange Drive
Columbus, Ohio, United States 43231

Please contact the hotel directly for reservations at 1-614-890-8600 or nationwide toll free number is 1-800-EMBASSY (362-27739) and mention reservation code: UGR. These special rates will be good if you book your reservation on or before Feb 26th.

This will be a time to sit down with fellow shipmates and reminisce about our time on "Goldy" and any memorabilia you have to show and share would be great. There are no planned group activities just time to socialize, shares meals, stories and the facility is very family friendly so the kids will have things to do including swimming. There are many restaurants, lots of shopping and entertainment venues in the area so this first mini will be sort of a "play it by ear event" as we are not sure how many people will come.

TO REGISTER: We need to know who is coming and how many in your party so we can plan accordingly. The cost is $15 for each adult and that is to cover snacks and refreshments. We will collect the money on site. Children of all ages are FREE! All you need to do is e-mail me: Pat Taylor at pat@pattaylorphoto.com or Bill Biller at wsbiller@wcnet.org. Sure hope to see many old and new faces.

Pat Taylor, President
