Welcome to the brand new USS GOLDSBOROUGH blog/website. In the ever changing world of technology, this new blog, is another way for shipmates to keep in touch.

As the Association begins its tenth year, many changes have occured since its inception in San Diego a decade ago. Our founding fathers did a great job in getting us moving forward and bringing what had been a vision of those faithful few in the beginning to what we have today. We're an organization with over 900 registered members that holds an annual reunion to bring old friends and shipmates together to share their love for our ship and to rekindle friendships from decades long past.

Be sure to check out our roster list by dates. Going to your time on board you may be able to find long lost shipmates. If they have an e-mail address, you will hopefully be able to contact them directly.

Our annual reunions are also a great place to see old friends and to share with others the time you had on “Goldy”. We would love to hear from any crewmember or their family.

God Speed to All,

Pat Taylor (HM2), President

G-Day from Down Under, for those of you that werent aware the Goldsborough made its way to Australia in the mid 90's and became a parts donor for our three DDG's.
I spent some time aboard her borrowing items to keep her sister HMAS Perth afloat I was a DDG Stoker(Engineering sailor)for 6.5 years.

I am a "Plankowner" and proud of my days as a "Goldy" sailor. I enjoy looking through the crew roster and reviewing allthe photos. Can anyone share some info about the death of Glen Pond. He was a good shipmate and I would like to know what happened. My E-mail is e6landry@yahoo.com. Thanks.....Earl landry

Medlin Dennis MMFN 65-68 M

My husband Dennis Medlin PROUDLY SERVED ABOARD THE USS GOLDSBOROUGH back in 1965-1968 as a Machinest Mate, and Sept 23 he'll turn 62! Over the years he's voiced "joining the Navy was one of the best moves he ever made...besides marrying me!!Hahahah smile...We've been married for 39 years and my love for him goes deeper as the years past.My biggest regret was not knowing him as a "Sailor".

I believe its made him the man he is today...
Disciplined, hardworking, reliable, dependable. His Navy years also gave him a rare opportunity to experience the world, observe new cultures (Love You Long Time...:)smile) and learn first hand there's no place like home "America", he's very Patriotic flies our Flag Daily.

I lived through the Vietnam Era, and was ashamed our Military wasn't appreciated like they are now.

I would like to take this time to thank All of our Vietnam Veterans, for making the ultimate Sacrifice and placing yourselves in harms way! Again, I Sincerely Thank All of You!!!

If you know Dennis Medlin, his email mail address has changed to: dennismedlin@hotmail.com

He has quite a few "Navy" pictures I'll get ready to send for this website for all to enjoy.

Closing for now, and wishing everyone Health, Peace, and a Job (for those unemployed like us).

Respectfully,

Lisa Medlin

We'd love to attend this years ReUnion, but I believe this economy is holding us back. Possibly next year
